When I spoke to Brett and Lindsay about their St Augustine Elopement I knew two things right off the bat: 1, that this couple was amazing and 2, that their day would be just as awesome!
Brett and Lindsay chose to elope in St Augustine because of the beautiful beaches, lush greenery, and historical setting. St Augustine is the oldest occupied settlement in North America and while that history comes with some dark sides, there are also very many beautiful aspects. The city reflects a blend of Spanish, British, and American influences which overflowed into the very airbnb that the couple chose as their elopement venue.
The stained glass, raw wood, and bare rafters were an instant hit with me! And when Lindsay showed me her dress it just confirmed that the whole day would be the stuff of fairy tales.
Brett and Lindsay got ready in different parts of the space – Bretty was downstairs while Lindsay stayed upstairs (peep the staircase below that was DEFINITELY haunted). They spend a quiet morning reflecting on the day ahead and writing down their vows while chowing on some Jimmy Johns. Once they were dressed they chose to do a first look on the boardwalk outside the airbnb.
While they had a few select friends and family members joining them on their day, Brett and Lindsay chose to keep their ceremony private. They exchanged vows on the boardwalk, self solemnizing their marriage (we made everything official later). After the ceremony the couple made their way back to the rooftop to toast their marriage and take photos.
Of course any st Augustine elopement wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the beach, so we loaded up and drove a few miles away. After parking we climbed the stairs to a bridge where other people had left locks symbolizing their love. After a few (very windy) beach photos we went back to the airbnb. By this time everyone had left and Brett and Lindsay were happy for the solitude.
I left this St Augustine elopement grinning from ear to ear. Ready to plan your own? Click here and let’s do it!
