Today, we’re setting sail on the love boat – quite literally. Imagine a wedding that’s not only a celebration of love but also a fantastic voyage on the Gulf of Mexico. We’re talking about a chill and unforgettable wedding on the Solaris Yacht in the sunny haven of Destin, Florida. So, grab your shades and come aboard as we spill the deets on this awesome nuptial adventure!
Clarke and Alexis celebrated their wedding day with the help of Sunquest Beach Weddings – one of the best coordinating companies on the Gulf Coast. The day began with Alexis getting ready at a beautiful condo near Pompano Joes in Destin. The condo was neutral in color and the primary bedroom had fantastic natural light via a sliding glass door which made hair and makeup a breeze. The neutral color palette and ability to access shadows made my photographers heart sing.
Of course we gathered all the girls up for some photos in their matching pajamas. Alexis did an awesome job choosing her getting ready ensemble and opted for a button down top, making it easy to change into her bridal gear without messing up her hair.
Honestly when groups laugh this easy I know its going to be an awesome day.
Alexis opted to have a first look with her bridesmaids which gave her a bit of peace and quiet (something rare on wedding days). Her grandmother came in to help with jewelry and then Alexis’ mom stepped in to help her with the dress.
This group was so excited and happy for Alexis, it was almost palpable.
Alexis also chose to have a first look with both dad and stepdad. The tears were flowing freely at this point!
Alexis’ getting ready room also boasted a deck overlooking the gulf of Mexico. Her crew stepped outside for some photos prior to the ceremony and the vibes were perfect.
Clarke got ready with his group of guys at another condo close to Henderson Beach State Park where the ceremony was being held. It was a short 5 minute drive which made the fact that I mistook the ceremony start time by an hour (thought it started at 4 but it started at 5) even more awkward by all of us arriving super early. Thankfully everyone were good sports about it saying they’d rather be early than late. Plus we were able to get some fun photos with Clarke and his guys prior to the ceremony.
The moment everyone waits for – when the groom sees his bride for the first time. Clarke shed a few tears which was so sweet and Alexis looked like a vision in white walking towards him down the boardwalk. She even chose to share this walk with both dad and stepdad, making the moment even more poignant.
After the ceremony we stayed at Henderson to get some more photos with the wedding party while the majority of guests whisked off to SanDestin to board the Solaris Yacht.
We were rewarded with a gorgeous, glowy, golden sunset!
Once on board Alexis and Clarke shared their first dance as husband and wife, then we set sail! The ship takes a cruise around the Destin bay (don’t worry about seasickness, it’s a super smooth ride) and has some amazing features that make the experience absolutely magical.
One of which is the top deck dance floor outfitted with string lights and a full sound system! Imagine floating under the stars around the bay in Destin on your own private yacht – drink in hand and surrounded by your friends and family.
The couple ended the night with a private dance which gave time for their guests to disembark and get ready for the grand exit.
Sparklers are always a great send off!
